Lu Jieyuan

Lu Jieyuan was the guard captain of the Village of Lu. His wife was a disciple of the Baishan Sect, and after her death he kept her headband on him always.

The world changed: the villagers stopped honouring their ancestors and covered the tablets with red flowers instead. He took leave of his aged father and his young daughter and went with his wife to the Mandate, sworn to cut a clear road with the blade. When the Maskwalker chaos came, the two of them joined the Mandate force under the Pillars of Kunlun.

Soul found him south of the creek holding his wife's body. He asked after his father and his daughter, and learned that Soul had seen both to their rest.

He said Lu Jieyuan had no family left in the world and no wish to live on; then he said he would hold on long enough to get back to the Village of Lu, back to Cui. Soul laid his wife to rest and buried Cui's keepsake and the old man's with her.

His last fight was at the Mirage Estate. That one strike wounded the thing and gave Soul the opening to kill it. At the end he asked only whether the blow had shamed his family.

He told Soul to carve a ray of light for the people of these parts, and his last words were for his daughter: Cui, don't be afraid. Father is coming to keep you company.
