Gu Wanyue
the Wailing Wraith
A gaunt woman in white who keeps a dry well, turning her sleeves into blades and her illusions into a cage.
Combat
Her flowing sleeves cut like blades, and her Phantom Arts close in as a prison.
Anyone caught in them sees nothing but endless darkness.
Background
She once saw a disciple of the High Elder raise countless breathtaking illusions from the sound of a zither, and followed that disciple without hesitation.
What the High Elder taught was only another form of Sha-Chi Transcension; she never found a way to join opera and Phantom Arts, and was left with a face that grew ever more twisted and incomplete.
A letter from her beloved gave her the resolve to break away from that path; she hid her ruined face behind a mask, suppressed her Sha-Chi, and set out for the place they had agreed to meet.
Aftermath
In all of Pangzhen there was no familiar face; her strange arts found only a lingering trace of her beloved's memory.
So the well became her stage, and she sings on, certain he will return — though every note comes out as a sob.
