The Object
A jade pendant that slipped from the body of Yu'er's father, its luster dull, its edge chipped.
Origin
It once held his memory of a wife already lost, and his hopes for what fate might still allow.
With the old man gone, the jade has lost its light as well, as though grieving a fate both bitter and small.
