Who He Is

The third disciple of the Kunlun Sect. Senior Sister Yuyin was fierce, Second Brother Huangxing was silent, and Moji was gentle and easygoing; the three matched one another in martial skill and were known together as the Pillars of Kunlun. The Wulin revered Yuyin and feared Huangxing, but it loved Moji.

He was a master of both brush and blade, a gentleman who could talk a knot of grudges loose. In a quieter age he would have been a scholar and a poet.

In the Encampment

When the Maskwalker uprising broke out, the Mandate sent the three to the Ye Town region to draw the weaker sects together and wipe out the Maskwalker remnants. There they swore an oath: while a Maskwalker lived, they would not stop.

Then Yuyin vanished, and the tripod lost a leg. The rift between Moji and his brother widened. Huangxing met a mysterious figure called the Young Master, and at once ordered those closest to him to undergo Perfect Transcension. Moji would not yield: to fight evil with evil would make them no different from the Maskwalkers.

The Falling Out

On the night before he set out, he sorted his old notes page by page into a single volume, setting down the whole account of the alliance with the Order a year before, and leaving judgement to whoever read it. On a map he marked the northern range — where Huangxing was to meet the Young Master, and where the weeping came from.

In the end the two met in arms. Huangxing sealed him into the statue in the Lady of the Veil's shrine with his own hands. What the world can still see of Moji is a figure that does not move. A cenotaph stands for him in the Encampment.

What He Left

His sword was forged at Lijian Manor, blunt and plain at the tip, and could be driven by breath alone to scour away filth. It was found steeped in blood in a cave held by Maskwalkers; his disciple Liu Yi took it back and gave his own life to the blade.

His disciples Zhao Di, Zhuge Feng and Wei Sanchuan denounced Huangxing in tears of blood. Disciples sealed the Encampment's outer gate, and the key stayed with Wei Sanchuan, who had gone to keep an appointment in Pangzhen. In Moji's day the door of his house was never locked: those who came to learn, to visit, or to try his blade were all received. Only after he vanished did his disciples lock it.
