Blazing Edge
A long blade Soul Tempered from Sanguine Reach, turning Sha-Chi into flame and setting enemies alight on a charged cut.
Form
A long blade, Soul Tempered from Sanguine Reach, keeping the length and weight of the Sanguine line almost unchanged. The fire does not live in the steel; it is drawn out by Sha-Chi, and the more Sha-Chi poured in, the higher it climbs.
Combat
Blazing Edge burns Sha-Chi as fuel. Its Sha-Chi combo can be entered after any stage of a standard combo; with enough Sha-Chi it becomes an enhanced attack, heavier in damage and Guard Break, and it Ignites whatever it lands on.
Its shield-breaking is solid enough to split a guard front-on, and it bites deeper into enemies already Frozen, where one charged cut lands heavier than usual.
The return is never the first hit but the burn that follows it. Build the fire, then collect — that is how the blade has always fought.
Arts
- Active | Sunderflame: Hold to spend 1 Sha-Chi and raise Blazing Edge overhead to charge; release to strike, Ignite the enemy, deal heavier damage to Frozen foes, and break any guard.
- Special | Flame Wave: Spend Sha-Chi to cut out a wave of flame that sets whatever it touches burning.
- Special | Burning Blade: Every hit builds Burning Energy; once it is full the blade takes fire, and every attack then carries Burn damage.
Origin
Sanguine Reach carried to the end of Soul Tempering, remade body and all — that is Blazing Edge. The Sanguine line began as Forge's replica work; by this blade, the replica has learned to raise its own fire.
