Masks of the Acolytes
Key item set
The four masks worn by the Acolytes, one each for flame, thunder, venom, and frost.
Origin
The Acolytes are four in number, tasked with hunting down traitors. All four were made together in one pattern; only the power frozen into each faceplate differs. Each wears one of these masks, and each mask seals a different power into a thin faceplate: flame that burns without end, thunder surging between gold and green, poison seeping along purple veins, and ice hardened together with Phantom Arts.
After the intruder incident, the Forbidden Ruins were sealed completely. Even the four can no longer enter on their own.
The Masks
- Yanru's Blazing Mask: A fierce flame burns upon the mask and never goes out, licking past the rim of the faceplate. The most flamboyant of the four.
- Leiting's Thunder Mask: Gold and green interwoven, thunderous power surging within, its light shifting with every movement.
- Guhe's Venom Mask: A purple faceplate coated in deadly, corrosive poison.
- Hansui's Frost Mask: Built from hardened ice and Phantom Arts, impervious to flame and impossible to shatter.
Purpose
The masks are the Acolytes' badge of identity and the vessel of each one's power. Beyond the Forbidden Ruins they recognize one another by these masks, and let their quarry know who has arrived. The gate is shut; the masks are the one thing they can still carry out with them.
