The Object
A pinwheel in a scatter of bright colors, bright enough to sting the eye.
The perils of this place and the sorrows of the world never seem to reach it; the gloomier everything else grows, the lighter it turns.
Give it wind and it spins in delight; when the wind drops it hangs still and waits for the next.
