Jin
the Grief-Stricken
Leader of the Maskwalkers before the shallow-water docks, clad in red with a crimson blade, whose wail raises a mist of blood and drives his six companions mad.
Who He Is
The leader of the Maskwalkers lurking before the shallow-water docks. Clad in red and wielding a crimson blade, he moves with eerie unpredictability, and the six beside him answer to his call.
The six are his sworn brothers, all out of Pangzhen and all trained under the same master, and now all wear the same mask.
Combat
His wail summons a blood mist, despair given form, and whatever it touches is wounded.
At that sound the six go mad, their Sha-Chi surging as they throw themselves forward one after another, sealing off every line of retreat for him.
Aftermath
All seven came from Pangzhen and studied under one master. Jin was the youngest; when he learned his birth mother had died unjustly, he cut off a finger to protect his sister, and his elder brothers cherished him for it. Their father and aunt despised the girl, Xiu, but feared Jin, so they vented their cruelty on Xiu's maid instead, and frail Xiu fell gravely ill.
The brothers found Soul Displacement Water to ease her suffering and swore that if they ever rose in the world they would shield the pair and seek justice for them, and that if one of them fell the rest would care for his family. None of them had exceptional talent, so to make their names they underwent Transcension together.
Fame was still far off when a strange illness swept the town. They hurried home, but bodies altered by Transcension could not withstand the Sha-Chi blanketing Meigu Lake. The faces of their loved ones blurred beneath bloodlust and madness, and a few li from home, they ran out of road.
