Origin

The Loong emblem was once a single piece, later broken in two: one half with its Loong's head bowed, the other with its head raised. The breaks were polished smooth and round, each leaving a notch that fits the other.

A Loong-shaped key follows the same design but fared far worse. The gem in its eye is long gone, and its golden scales were stripped away one by one.

The Emblems

  • Loong Emblem (Yin): A Loong with its head bowed, scales finely detailed and almost lifelike. Its eyes are inlaid with black jade and glow faintly in the dark; the notch on its left edge fits the other fragment.
  • Loong Emblem (Yang): A Loong with its head raised toward the heavens, whiskers flowing gracefully. Its eyes are set with agate and gleam as though alive; a matching notch runs along its right edge.
  • Loong Emblem: The two halves joined into one emblem. A Loong coils and another rises, both weaving among billowing clouds, the sun and the moon. It seems able to open a Loong-shaped lock somewhere.
  • Rusted Loong Key: A key fashioned in the shape of a Loong. Gem and golden scales are gone, leaving only rust, yet the prosperity of its former owner is still faintly visible.

Purpose

The restored emblem answers a Loong-shaped lock; the rusted key answers a gate carved with Loong patterns. Same design, different doors, and what lies behind them has never been answered.

The emblem can be fitted back together. The golden scales on the key can never be grown again.
